hi there.

I’m Yasmeen– a Mom of (almost!) two, Content Creator, Prenatal, Birth, and Postpartum Doula, and Pregnancy + Postpartum Nutritionist based in Los Angeles, CA. I moved here from Maui, HI, where I spent the first 17 years of my life– but LA is definitely home. I didn’t move here with big dreams of being an actress or a model (I also just… can’t act and I’m 5’2”), but my interest in health and wellbeing had already begun a few years prior due to struggles with my own health. In my search to feel better, despite the lack of success within the conventional medical system, I found my passion for all things wellness and nutrition.

Although I have previously found myself invested in some… interesting philosophies and beliefs (starting a support group for my fellow ‘Freelee The Banana Girl’ victims circa 2015), I pride myself on staying up to date with high-quality research, consulting with those much smarter and more qualified than myself, not subscribing to any particular nutrition philosophies that are based on personal, moral, religious, or extremist beliefs, and most importantly– always being open to changing my mind when I’m presented with new information. I’m a big believer that although there is (really interesting) science and some general things that will promote optimal health in most of us, bio-individuality plays the biggest role and what works for you, may not work for someone else.

In case you’re still here and interested, I figured I’d tell you a little more about my history–

Prior to my 5-year-old son being born, I was mostly focusing my nutrition practice on women’s health and autoimmune conditions. Once my son was born my interest shifted to infant + toddler nutrition with a focus on baby-led-weaning. But before my son’s first birthday, I became a single parent which kind of threw off…well everything. Living in one of the most expensive cities in the country while being the sole provider, caretaker, and managing a household for an infant, and eventually toddler took a huge toll on my mental and physical health. I was in survival mode, my nutrition practice took a backseat and I often found myself working freelance/odd jobs until 4AM while having a breastfeeding toddler that still woke up every 1-2 hours throughout the night. This was one of the lowest points of my life and I felt like there was no way out with no family living nearby or access to childcare.

But we pushed through.

And in 2020, a close friend who has been a Doula in LA for a decade presented me with an opportunity (one that I will be forever grateful for) to be mentored by her within the birth space. [Check our her website here for Prenatal, Birth, Postpartum, and Lactation services]. I was hesitant at first because of the unpredictable schedule and lack of childcare but we worked together as a team to provide our clients prenatal, in-hospital and out-of-hospital birth, postpartum, lactation, nutrition, and photography services between the two of us. In this, I got to integrate my passion and experience for nutrition and women’s health, with my love for pregnancy + birth, and a desire to support families in a city where people often don’t have their own nearby. I’ve since had the pleasure of supporting dozens of families throughout the start of their parenthood journeys and learned a lot (and made great friends) along the way.

Since the end of 2022, I’ve had to take a break from taking births because of the difficulty with finding childcare last minute (at all hours of the night) and because of my own, now growing family! However, I’m still passionate about connecting with and supporting a community of families all over the country and have thought a lot about what I want this to look like.

Although there are limits to the support I can provide (I wish I could be in your home, loving on you!), my goal is to help prevent Moms and partners from feeling the way I did in my new parenthood journey with high-quality information, resources, and practices geared toward their individual needs.

If you’ve gotten this far, thanks for getting to know me a bit more! If you’re interested in learning more about what I do and how I may be able to help you, feel free to check out some of the links below–
